(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team was recognized by the ACCAC conference for stellar play during the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
Sophomore Gabriela Mendoza (Tucson Magnet HS) and freshman Amaya Andrade (Flowing Wells HS) earned ACCAC Division II Player and Goalkeeper of the Week. This was the third time the Aztecs have swept the weekly awards. Sophomores Alyssa Allan and Angelina Moraga (Sabino HS) took home the awards for Aug. 24-30 and freshman Emma Cazares (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Moraga captured the honors for Sept. 7-13.
Mendoza, a sophomore wing, had an assist in Pima’s 7-1 win over Mesa Community College and scored a goal in their 2-1 win over Phoenix College.
Mendoza has played in 11 games; making 10 starts with six goals and four assists so far this season.
Andrade, a freshman goalkeeper, finished with five saves, which included stopping a penalty kick late in the second half in Pima’s win at Phoenix College.
Andrade has played in three games, logged 160 minutes protecting the net with seven saves.
The Aztecs play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College tonight at 8:00 p.m.
