(Guasave, Sinaloa) A great pitching duel took place tonight at Kuroda Park in Guasave. The duel ultimately went Tucson’s way, 4 runs to 1.
Tucson starter Daniel de la Fuente remained on the mound for three innings without allowing a run and allowing only two hits. His counterpart Kyle Tyler pitched for six innings, striking out five and walking three, also without allowing a run and allowing two hits.
The first run came in the sixth inning with a wild pitch by Carlos Bustamante, with Jorge Flores taking advantage to break away from third with the run that would put Algodoneros ahead.

Tucson’s third run came on a hit by Anguamea to Gaige Howard, advancing Alexis Wilson to home plate.
Guasave’s new pitcher, Víctor Buelna, started off on the wrong foot and walked Ramón Mendoza with the bases loaded. Edgar Lugo scored the fourth for our team, leaving the score 4-1 in favor of Tucson.
Garret Alexander came out in the ninth and, after striking out for the first out, walked Rafael Romero and Yael Franco on two consecutive runs. Alan Espinoza then hit into a double play, giving Tucson the victory and securing the first series for Arizona.
