With the score at 9-9, the Aztecs scored five straight and got kills from freshman Alexia Hutchens (Salpointe Catholic HS), sophomore Kendall Snyder (Canyon del Oro HS) and Baird. Sophomore Julia Weatherbie (Mountain View HS) capped off the run with an ace to make it 14-9. Baird put the Aztecs up 2-0 with her kill to end the set.
The third set was close as Pima led 10-8 but rallied off seven straight points to take control at 17-9. Scottsdale scored the next three points, but the Aztecs countered with another six straight to take their biggest lead of the set at 23-12.
