(Guasave, Sinaloa) Tucson Baseball Team recorded its first sweep in franchise history with a 3-0 victory over Guasave, thus securing the entire series at the home of the Sinaloans.
Additionally, tonight, Tucson Baseball Team infielder Misael Rivera is playing his 300th game in the ARCO Mexican Pacific League, a historic night for the Guasave, Sinaloa native, who also collected a hit in the game.
Tucson was in charge of getting the party going, scoring a pair of runs in the opening game. The first was driven in by José Carlos Ureña, scoring Gaige Howard, and the second was scored by Ramón Mendoza on a wild pitch by Jeff Kinley. This gave the Tucson team a 2-0 lead in the game.
In the top of the eighth, Alexis Wilson singled to right field, scoring Gaige Howard with the third run for Tucson, making it 3-0.
In the ninth, Willie Romero sent Charlie Hasty to the mound to take the final three outs of the game. He retired the ninth inning on three men, giving Tucson a 3-0 victory over the Algodoneros de Guasave.
Zoé Carrillo earned his second win of the season, pitching five innings, striking out two, and walking four without allowing a run.
The loss went to Jeff Kinley, who pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs without striking out a single.
