(Coolidge, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s cross country team competed in its third meet of the season on Saturday at the Al Shirley (CAMPY) Invitational held at Central Arizona College.
The No. 23 ranked Aztecs took third place in the final standings with a total of 60 points. Mesa Community College placed first with 17 and Central Arizona College was second with 43 points.
Freshman Madeline Mitchell (Tucson Magnet HS) was Pima’s top finisher in the 5K (3.1 miles) race as she took 10th place out of 29 competitors with a time of 20 minutes, 0.2 seconds.
Sophomore Karlee Pope took 12th place with a time of 20:20 while freshman Cassidy Davidson (Cienega HS) closed out the race in 14th at 20:33.
Sophomore Elizabeth Coppola (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) placed 19th, crossing the finish line at 21:46 and fellow sophomore Elexia Aragon (Flowing Wells HS) was 20th at 22:11.
Mitchell, Pope, Davidson, Coppola and Aragon all earned Top 20 recognition.
The Aztecs will compete at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Riverside, CA. The first race begins at 8:00 a.m.
