(Coolidge, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s cross country team competed in its third meet of the season on Saturday at the Al Shirley (CAMPY) Invitational held at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ.
The No. 16 ranked Aztecs took third place in the final standings with a total of 72 points. Central Arizona College claimed first place with 29 points while the Aztec Track Club took second place with 34 points. Mesa Community College was fourth with 75 points.
Freshman Jose Hernandez (Rio Rico HS) was Pima’s top finisher in the 5K (3.1 miles) race as he took ninth place out of 48 competitors with a time of 15 minutes, 27.0 seconds.
Freshman Kallen McCracken (Mountain Ridge HS) was right behind Hernandez as he took 10th place with a closing time of 15:29. Sophomore Tayvien Biancuzzo (Mica Mountain HS) was the third straight Pima runner to cross the finish line as he claimed 11th place at 15:31.
Freshman Myles Oliver finished the race in 17th place with a time of 15:47 and sophomore Noah Brunet (Ironwood Ridge HS) took 24th place at 16:04.
Hernandez, McCracken, Biancuzzo and Oliver all earned Top 20 recognition.
The Aztecs will compete at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Riverside, CA. The first race begins at 8:00 a.m.
