Rylei Waugh averages 24.0 points to capture fifth ACCAC Player of the Week award

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College women’s basketball player Rylei Waugh (Westchester HS, CA) produced another stellar week on the court and was recognized by the ACCAC conference.

Waugh, a freshman guard, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the fifth time this season: this time for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3. She earned the honor for the previous weeks of Jan. 14-20, Dec. 31-Jan. 6, Dec. 10-16 and Nov. 5-11.

She averaged 24.0 points, which included a 27-point performance in Pima’s 69-66 overtime win over Scottsdale Community College on Saturday. Waugh also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals. She went 18 for 33 (.545) from the field, 2 for 6 (.333) from three-point range and 10 for 14 (.714) from the free throw line.

Waugh has played and started in all 22 games so far this season averaging 16.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.5 steals.

The Aztecs moved up three spots to No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Division II national rankings. They play at South Mountain Community College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday against Yavapai College. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m.
