Her fourth career honor after leading the team to a 3-1 record this past weekend

(Tempe,AZ)  Coming off a successful 3-1 weekend in La Jolla, Calif. at the Triton Invitational, attacker Luca Petovary has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week for tallying 15 goals and two assists in four games and leading the team in goals for three of the four contests announced by the league office today.

This is the first weekly award for the Sun Devils this season. For Petovary, this is her fourth career honor and her second Player of the Week award, her first since Jan. 17, 2023. In her freshman season, she earned MPSF Newcomer of the Week honors twice.

The senior’s 17 points over the weekend helped lead the Sun Devils to victories over three ranked opponents, No. 9 UC San Diego, No. 16 UC Davis and No. 10 Michigan en route to the team’s best start since the 2020 season, which also started 7-1. She also netted a hat trick against No. 3 UCLA in the team’s lone defeat this season.

In a victory against the Triton, she assembled three goals and two assists in the 12-11 comeback victory. Then against the Aggies of UC Davis, she outscored the entire opposition by slotting five goals and accounting for 55% of the team’s scoring in the 9-4 victory to move into the fifth-place game against Michigan.

Against the Wolverines, Petrovary scored four goals to lead the Sun Devils to a 10-8 win over the tenth-ranked team in the nation, clinching the team’s second top-10 win of the weekend.

The senior has compiled 32 goals in eight games this season and led the team in goals in six of eight games this year. She ranks 5th all-time in program history with 162 career goals. Including being seventh all-time with 221 career points. Petovary also ranks first in the MPSF Conference in goals (32) and points (41) three weeks into the season helping the Sun Devils to five ranked wins in eight games.

Lastly, the Hungarian also has three such games with 5+ goals this season and has six games in her career with 5+ goals in a game and is the only Sun Devil to have at least five such games in program history.
