Bucs Fall in Three Sets to #4 Ottawa University

(Surprise, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s volleyball team fell to No. 4 OUAZ this evening 3-0 (13-25, 9-25, 18-25) at Faith Arena in Surprise, Ariz. The Bucs fall to 0-2 to start the 2024 season.

When facing one of the top teams in the country and you are a freshman laden squad, you have to play a perfect match just to be competitive. The Spirit were just a little to strong for the Bucs today as they only managed 15 kills for the match against 39 off OUAZ arms.

The Bucs hit negatively in the first two sets before rebounding with an eight-kill third set where they hit .148. Overall they hit -.061 for the match.

Junior David Shafer led the way with over half of the Bucs kills with eight. He also led the team with eight digs. Bryan Ramirez and Jake Burdick had three kills each.

These two teams will turn around and do it again next Monday, February 12 at the Buccaneers home, Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz., starting a 7 p.m.
