(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (14-2, 11-2 in ACCAC) played its final regular season home game on Tuesday as it hosted Scottsdale Community College (7-5-1, 7-4-1) at the West Campus Aztec Field.
The No. 6 ranked Aztecs earned their eighth shutout win of the season as they beat the Artichokes 4-0.
Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic HS) netted his 17th and 18th goals of the season. He put the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 12th minute with his goal that was assisted by sophomore Eythan Mancilla (Sunnyside HS). He found the back of the net again six minutes later to make it 2-0 as sophomore Nathan Flores (Alhambra HS) provided the assist.
Sophomore Edgar Leyva-Miranda (Desert View HS) scored the first goal of his Pima career as he made it 3-0. Mancilla had his second assist of the game.
Sophomore Lae Soe (Cortez HS) helped seal the win with his insurance goal in the 76th minute. Fellow sophomore Alejandro Mina had the assist.
The Aztecs finished with seven shots on goal and held the Artichokes with zero for the game. Sophomore Alex Cristerna Oleta (Tucson Magnet HS) finished with no saves.
The Aztecs will close out the regular season on Saturday when they play at Mesa Community College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
