(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College women’s basketball player Fama Thiam (Highland HS) signed her letter of intent for the 2021-22 season as she will head to play at the NCAA Division I level.
Thiam, a 5-11 guard, signed to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. The Aggies play in the Western Athletic Conference.
Player’s Quote: “New Mexico State University not only provides me with the best opportunity for education but also to further my basketball career,” Thiam said. “I liked how they cared about me and I know their program is going to feel like home.”
Thiam played and started in all 31 games last season for the Aztecs averaging 8.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She shot 77.3 percent from the free throw line. She scored in double figures in 13 games. Thiam helped the Aztecs capture the NJCAA Region I, Division II title and an overall record of 25-7.
Thiam is returning this season to play her second year with the Aztecs.
