(Phoenix, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (10-2, 9-2 in ACCAC) secured another double-digit win season on Friday as it hit the road to play GateWay Community College.
The No. 6 ranked Aztecs scored two goals in each half, beating the Geckos 4-1 for their sixth straight win. The Aztecs outscored GateWay 9-1 in their two meetings during the regular season. Pima won the first meeting 5-0 on Sept. 15 at the West Campus Aztec Field.

Sophomore Darian Castillo (ASU Prep) provided the assist for freshman Jonathan Karumuna’s (Pinnacle HS) goal in the 16th minute to give the Aztecs a 2-0 lead. The Geckos scored in the early minutes of the second half, but Castillo countered with his goal in the 53rd minute to give Pima a two-goal advantage once again at 3-1.
Sophomore Sean Ribadeneira (Pinnacle HS) finished the match with two assists. He set up sophomore Jaycob Humbel (Pinnacle HS) to put Pima on the scoreboard in the 11th minute and provided the pass on Castillo’s score in the second half.
Freshman Landon McKendrick (Mica Mountain HS) added more insurance for the Aztecs with his goal in the 87th minute that was assisted by freshman Mossi Ombeni (Tucson Magnet HS).
The Aztecs outshot the Geckos 14-4 in on-goal attempts. Freshman Tijn Dik finished the game with three saves.
The Aztecs have three matches left in the regular season and will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday against Glendale Community College. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m. The Gauchos handed the Aztecs their second loss of the season on Sept. 19 in Glendale.
