(Glendale, AZ) Defensive back Yahsyn McKee Sr. continues to rack up post-season honors for the Arizona Rattlers as he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year by the IFL.
McKee, 6-foot, 180 pounds out of the University of Miami, Ohio, picked up his league-leading 12th interception in Sunday’s Western Conference championship victory over San Diego. The next closest IFL competitor has six. McKee has multiple interceptions in four games, and he returned two of his picks for touchdowns.
He helped the Rattlers lead the league with 30 interceptions, nine more than the next team in that category. Arizona has been the best defense in the league, leading in total defense and scoring defense as it advanced to the IFL National Championship game.
“I’ve always come and just made a lot of plays,” McKee said of his penchant for interceptions. “I’ve been lucky, but I’m just always at the right place at the right time because I have a high IQ for football and I love football.”
McKee was previously named to the IFL All-Rookie team and was a first-team All-IFL selection.
It is the second consecutive year that a Rattlers player has been named Rookie of the Year. Running back Ron Brown Jr. was the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2025.
