Aztecs Baseball drops doubleheader at Chandler-Gilbert CC

(Chandler, AZ)  The Pima Community College baseball team (10-5, 3-3 in ACCAC) played its first road games of the 2026 season on Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (10-6, 4-2).
The No. 21 ranked Aztecs fell in both games as the offense struggled in the first game and they were unable to maintain their lead in the second game.

Game 1: Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 10, (21) Pima Aztecs 0 (6 innings)

The Aztecs managed one hit for the game as the Coyotes retired the final 15 Pima batters to close the game.
Freshman Damian Lorta (Desert View HS) drew a walk in the 1st inning and sophomore Jackson Glueck hit a lead-off single in the 2nd inning, which proved to be all of Pima’s offense.
Freshman Hayden Green (Sabino HS) took the loss as he pitched four innings, giving up four runs (four earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts on 76 pitches.

L – Green (1-1).

Game 2: Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 11, (21) Pima Aztecs 7

The Aztecs took a 7-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning, but the Coyotes rallied off nine runs to take the lead for good.
The Aztecs scored three runs in the 1st inning. Freshman Adriel Figueroa-Brito scored on a fielder’s choice to put Pima on the board. Glueck hit a groundout that scored Lorta and sophomore Mike Jones (Canyon del Oro HS) drove an RBI single that brought in freshman Cooper Kruk (Catalina Foothills HS).
Jones hit his second RBI single of the game in the 5th inning bringing in Lorta, who led off with a double to give the Aztecs a 4-2 advantage.
Pima tacked on another three runs in the 7th inning. Jones and freshman Aciel Guillen (Salpointe Catholic HS) hit back-to-back RBI singles and sophomore Quintin Hennesy (Horizon HS) capped off the inning with an RBI triple to make it 7-2.
The Aztecs left two runners stranded to close out the game.
Jones finished the game 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored while Guillen and Glueck each finished 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Hennesy was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Figueroa-Brito went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Lorta was 1-for-5 with two runs.
Sophomore Cam Grenert (Horizon HS) pitched in relief and took the loss as he went one-third of an inning, giving up five runs (two earned) on two hits with one walk.

The Aztecs will be back on the road when they play GateWay Community College in Mesa, AZ for an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First game is at noon.
