(Tepic, Nayarit) Tucson got off to a winning start in Nayarit, defeating Jaguares 5-4.
The scoring opened in the top of the third inning when Jaguares scored a run on a single by Jacob Rhinesmith.
In the fourth inning, Nayarit extended their lead to 3-0 when Niko Vázquez and Aarón Zavala scored on a hit by José Heberto Félix.
The Jaguars added another run to lead off the fifth inning when Jacob Rhinesmith scored on a fielder’s choice off a ground ball by veteran Jesús Castillo.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, with two runners on base, Gaige Howard hit a game-winning double, driving in Alejandro Quezada and Alexis Wilson. Howard then scored himself on a fielding error by center fielder Aarón Zavala, bringing the score to 4-3.
In the seventh inning, Tucson took the lead, scoring twice on a powerful triple by Agustín Ruiz, his second of the season, which brought home River Town and Jesús Fabela, who were on base.
In the ninth, Charlie Hasty took control, and after issuing a walk, he dominated the opposing team to secure the save.
