(Tucson, AZ). The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (3-1-2, 3-0-1 in ACCAC) handed Glendale Community College its first defeat of the season (3-1, 3-1) on Tuesday as the teams locked up in an ACCAC conference game at the West Campus Aztec Field.

- The No. 10 ranked Aztecs beat the Gauchos 7-1 earning their third straight win. The Aztecs have outscored their opponents 22-1 in the last three games.
- Sophomore Samantha Mendez (Tucson Magnet HS) closed out the game scoring two goals and dishing out four assists.
Mendez assisted in freshman Yajaira Cervantes’ (Tucson Magnet HS) first two goals of the game in the 5th and 16thminutes to give the Aztecs a 2-0 lead. Mendez found the back of the net for her first goal in the 25th minute that was assisted by sophomore Meredith Galus (Walden Grove HS). - Up 3-1 at halftime, the Aztecs took back their three-goal advantage when freshman Gabriela Mendoza (Tucson Magnet HS) scored in the 71st minute. Mendez had her third assist in the game. Mendoza scored again three minutes later with an assist from sophomore Anjeli DesRosier (Salpointe Catholic HS).
- Sophomore Dameris Canto (Sahuaro HS) netted her goal to make it 6-1 in the 85th minute. Mendez produced her fourth assist on the play and added one final insurance goal in the 88th minute.
- Sophomore Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) finished with one save after she played the first half. Fellow sophomore Brooke Valencia (Sabino HS) closed out the game with four saves as she went in for the second half.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday when they host Paradise Valley Community College. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
