Aztecs Men’s Cross Country opens 2025 taking fifth place at the George Kyte Invitational

(Flagstaff, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s cross country team completed its first race of the 2025 season on Saturday at the George Kyte Invitational at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, AZ.

The Aztecs took fifth place out of eight teams with a score of 125 points in the Open Race Division. Embry Riddle Aeronautical University placed first with 30 points and Central Arizona College took second place with 39 points. The Aztecs beat out Coconino Community College (189) and Tohono O’odham Community College (229) from the ACCAC conference.

Freshman Kallen McCracken (Mountain Ridge HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs in the 4.5-mile race as he finished in 13th place out of 100 competitors with a time of 24 minutes, 17.0 seconds.

Freshman Jose Hernandez (Rio Rico HS) closed out the race in 21st and was clocked at 24:44.0. Sophomore Tayvien Biancuzzo (Mica Mountain HS) was right behind Hernandez as he placed 22nd at 24:45.3.

Sophomore Noah Brunet (Ironwood Ridge HS) crossed the finish line in 34th place with a time of 26:07.3 and freshman Alec Guerra (Nogales HS) closed it out in 35th place at 26:17.2.

The Aztecs had 12 representatives in the race.

The Aztecs will compete in the Embry Riddle Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 6 in Prescott. Race times are TBA.
