Cohenj Gonzales’s 44 points in two games earns ACCAC Division II Player of the Week recognition

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College men’s basketball player Cohenj Gonzales (Mesquite HS) was a major factor in its two wins during the week of Jan. 21-27.

Gonzales, a freshman guard, was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week as he scored 44 points and hit 14 3-pointers in Pima’s wins over No. 11 Chandler-Gilbert Community College (83-64) and at Phoenix College (107-72).

He finished 14 for 24 (.583) from beyond the arc and averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 steals, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 rebounds. He scored a season-high 26 points at Phoenix College on Saturday.

Gonzales has played and started in all 20 games so far this season averaging 14.9 points, 3.3 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He is shooting 50.3 percent from the field, 46.6 percent from three-point range and 75.0 percent from the free throw line.

The No. 18 ranked Aztecs will play at Glendale Community College on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
