Beach Buccaneers Drop Two Matches to Powerhouses CMU and OUAZ

(Scottsdale, AZ)  The Patk University Gilbert beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches today, but their opponents are two of the best in their respective divisions. The Bucs lost 5-0 to Colorado Mesa University and 5-0 to OUAZ at Scottsdale Ranch Park.

Colorado Mesa is one the of the top NCAA Division II teams in the country having won a national championship in 2022 and a runner up finish last season. OUAZ us currently the No. 1 ranked team in the country in the NAIA.

The Bucs did not win a set against Mavericks and took one set against the Spirit and came close to taking a second as the No. 5 flight of Danielle Miranda-Johnson and Porsche Bauer took a set against OUAZ and the No. 1 team of Railey Druxman Daisy Moates came close in set two but dropped a 22-20 set.

This is the second year in a row the Bucs have faced the Mavericks having lost to the CMU a year ago. They will face off against them again on Saturday, March 2 at Arizona State in another neutral site matchup. Before that match, the Bucs will take on No. 3 Arizona Christian in Glendale, Ariz., this Friday, March 1.
