(Mesa, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert women’s soccer team won its second straight game this evening, beating La Sierra University 4-1 at Legacy Sports Complex. With the win the Bucs move to 3-2-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in California Pacific Conference play, This is the latest in the season the Buccaneers have had a winning record and the first time in history the Bucs have a winning record in conference.

Dani Mares got the Bucs on the board first, scoring in the 30th minute on a pass from Alli Meisel. The Bucs would maintain that advantage into halftime.

La Sierra would apply consistent pressure early in the second half which culminated in a goal by Arianna Perez in the 61st minute.

Park would answer in spades 10 minutes later with two goals in within a minutes time as Mares netted her second and third of the year and of the game for the second hat trick in Park history. Katelynn Harris had the first last year in the Bucs opening game last season.

Yadira Bernal finished the scoring with her first career goal to make it 4-1.

Each team had 11 shots with Park posting seven shots on goal. LSU had four shots on Park goalkeeper Catherine Corlett who made three saves. She almost made the fourth as she dove and stopped the shot by Perez but the ball had just barely crossed the goal line.

LSU dominated the corner kicks 5-0 but was not able to take advantage.

Up next the Bucs face a team they have never beaten in the University of Saint Katherine who is 5-0 all-time against the Bucs. Saint Katherine is coming off a 2-1 loss to No. 11 Embry Riddle tonight.  Park and USK will face off on Saturday, September 16 at 6 p.m. at Legacy Sports Park.
