(Phoenix, AZ)  Sun Devil Men’s Basketball will take on Northwestern at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on December 20 as part of Jerry Colangelo’s Hall of Fame Series Phoenix.

Position Sports – in association with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame – announced the complete field today for the 2023 Hall of Fame Series, which includes premiere matchups in Phoenix at the Footprint Center on December 20. Arizona State is part of a four-game lineup down the road at the home of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, facing off with fellow 2023 NCAA Tournament participant Northwestern in the evening session.

“Arizona State Men’s Basketball is thrilled to be able to compete in the Colangelo Classic,” Head Coach Bobby Hurley remarked. “We always enjoy competing in Phoenix where our fans have a chance to support us. Jerry Colangelo has done so much for the game or basketball, so it’s a honor to participate in an event supporting his legacy.”

The event will feature both the Arizona State and Arizona men’s and women’s basketball teams, marking the first time all four teams have played in the same location on the same day. Details on exact game time, tickets, and the television broadcast will be available at a later date.

BIG WINS ON NEUTRAL FLOORS IN NON-CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON
Coach Bobby Hurley has done a great job of getting some big-time wins in the non-conference schedule in his eight years, including last year when it beat Creighton, #20 Michigan and Atlantic-10 champion VCU.

This is the second preseason neutral site event that has been officially announced as part of Sun Devil Men’s Basketball non-conference schedule. Earlier in the offseason, Arizona State was confirmed as a participant in the Vegas Showdown (Nov. 23-24) along with NC State, Vanderbilt, and BYU.

Coach Hurley’s squad will not be the only Sun Devil Basketball team participating in this event. Arizona State Women’s Basketball will face Fresno State in the first game of the first session of the 2023 Hall of Fame Series on December 20. The Hall of Fame Series Phoenix, which will feature two separate sessions, includes the following matchups:

Session 1
Arizona State vs. Fresno State (Women)
Arizona vs. Gonzaga (Women)

Session 2
Arizona St. vs. Northwestern
Arizona vs. Alabama

Both the Arizona State and Arizona men’s teams will both play in Phoenix on the same day for the first time since the Southwest Showdown on December 4, 2001. At what was then known as America West Arena, Arizona State knocked off Utah while Arizona defeated Illinois.

The Hall of Fame Series joins other previously announced Naismith Hall of Fame events, including the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase, and the Hall of Fame Classic.

2023 HALL OF FAME SERIES
The Hall of Fame Series, which is owned and operated by Position Sports, is a collection of multi-game, singular events that will showcase several of the top collegiate basketball teams in exciting non-conference matchups played both domestically and abroad. The Phoenix edition is named after legendary basketball executive Jerry Colangelo, who was a prominent figure in the professional sports industry during his time in “The Valley”. Tickets for both sessions are scheduled to go on sale in July. On-sale date, game times, fan experience information, credentials, and television broadcast details will be released at a later date.
