(Berkeley, CA)  Sun Devil Lacrosse’s junior defender Gigi Gaspar and sophomore goaltender Katie Vahle were named to the 2023 Pac-12 All-Tournament team on Saturday as announced by the conference.

The pair are the first to be named to a Pac-12 All-Tournament team under the helm of Taryn VanThof at Arizona State.

For a second time this season, Gaspar marked a career high of five ground balls in Wednesday’s victory against the Golden Bears. She also had two caused turnovers. The Canadian started and played in 19 games for the Sun Devils, notching her at 50 overall in both categories. In Gaspar’s three year career, she has tallied 63 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.

The midweek match with California resulted in Vahle having a .688 save percentage, a career high as she gave up only five goals. Her success in the net allowed the Sun Devils to be tied for the second-fewest conceded in a Pac-12 Tournament game.

Vahle tallied six ground balls and forced two caused turnovers in ASU’s game against the Pac-12 Tournament winners, USC. It was the second time in the season that the Long Island native grabbed seven ground balls in a single weekend. In 2023, she led the conference in saves with 184 and save percentage, .461.

Both Gaspar and Vahle have attributed to the Sun Devils .910 clear percentage, good for 14th in the country as of Thursday, May 4.
