(Corvallis, OR)  Sun Devil Softball had its regular season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Oregon State on Sunday afternoon at Kelly Field. The result means Arizona State will open the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament against Arizona on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Tucson.

Batting leadoff for the second straight game, Makenna Harper totaled a season-high three hits and scored both of the team runs. Batting behind her, Yanni Acuña had two hits and was hit by a pitch.

Kylee Magee held the Beavers to seven hits in allowing three runs (one earned) in her second straight complete game. Her five strikeouts matched her season-high in a conference game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After two scoreless innings, ASU broke through in the third behind an RBI single from Alexa Milius. Harper singled to start the inning and came around to score the game’s first run.

Oregon State came back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth using four hits and a Sun Devil error.

Harper came around to score in the fifth after leading off with a single and scoring on a sac fly from Jazmine Hill.

Magee gave the Sun Devils a chance to rally with a strikeout and fly out in the bottom of the sixth to leave the bases loaded.

NOTABLE

Harper doubled to lead off the game to give her a season-long tying four-game hitting streak. It’s the first time this season she has had extra-base hits in consecutive games.

Two more singles gave her a three-hit game for the first time this season and six hits in the series.

Acuña moved into a tie for eighth in program history by recording her 44th career double in the first inning.

She tallied her second straight multi-hit game – and 17th of the season – with a single in the fifth inning.

Milius extended her hitting streak to five straight with her third-inning single. It gave her a hit in seven of the past eight outings.

She also recorded an RBI for the second straight game.

Magee went six innings to match her season-long that was set on Friday.

She held OSU scoreless into the fourth to extend her scoreless inning streak to a career-best 9.1 innings.
