Arizona State (21-16, 5-10 Pac-12) was limited to only four hits for the third consecutive game. They were hitless in 13 at bat with runners on base, including 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Oregon (28-11, 8-7 Pac-12) scored single runs in four separate innings with a seventh-inning home run their only extra-base hit of the 10 in the game. Mac Osborne started for the Sun Devils in the circle and allowed two runs on four hits. Kenzie Brown and Marissa Schuldeach allowed one run and tallied two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Ducks opened the scoring behind a leadoff walk and a two-out single in the top of the second inning.

Another two-out single in the third inning brought home the second run of the game for Oregon.

The lead extended to 3-0 in the fifth after a single, walk, and wild pitch allowed a run to score on an infield single.

Jordyn VanHook doubled to start the ASU sixth, but was stranded at third to end the scoring threat.

Oregon used a one-out home run in the seventh to provide the game’s final margin.

NOTABLES

VanHook’s double was her sixth of the season.

Yanni Acuña failed to reach base for only the fourth time in the past 41 games dating back to May 13, 2022.

Schuld an 0-for-13 at the plate that dated back to March 4 with a single in the fifth inning.

Jazmine Hill singled in the fourth inning to give her a hit in four of the past five games after having one hit in the 14 games prior.

This is the first time ASU has been swept in a Pac-12 series since losing all four of a series at UCLA in 2021, and the first time at home since 2019 against UCLA.

QUOTES

Head coach Megan Bartlett
On consistency by Oregon:

“They’re a great team. Very well trained, very fundamental. They continue to put pressure on you, they can drive the ball in the gap. They’re tough and very good on the mound, so we’re have to keep working and grinding.”

On mentality going into Tuesday’s game vs. GCU:
“They’re good, they gave us a run for our money this fall. Coach Hayes does a really nice job, I think he’s been there for two or three years now. Definitely a legit ball club, they’re fast, they’re strong and they’ve got some good pitching. We talked about how there’s no sleeping on Tuesday, so taking it seriously.”
