Maria Harrouch leads after two rounds of play at Southwest District Championships

(Sun City West, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team completed the first two rounds of competition on Monday and Tuesday as part of the Southwest District Championships held at the Hillcrest Golf Club.

The Aztecs sit in seventh place out of nine teams in the standings with a score of 638 (311-327).

Sophomore Maria Harrouch is in first place in the individual standings with a two-day total of 141 as she shot a 3-under par 69 in Monday’s first round and finished Tuesday’s round with an even-par 72. She leads Raeleigh Davidson from McLennan Community College (Texas) and Claudia Alnajim from Odessa College (Texas) by three strokes as they’re tied for second place with 144.

Sophomore Angelica Martinez sits in 26th place with a two-day score of 158 (79-79).

Freshman Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) shot a 77 in the first round and has a score of 162 (77-85) while freshman Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) has a score of 177 (86-91).

The Aztecs conclude play in the Southwest District Championships on Wednesday. Pairings begin to tee off at 9:20 a.m.
