(Glendale, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (21-6, 13-6 in ACCAC) put one back in the win column on Saturday in its win at Glendale Community College (11-15, 6-13).
The No. 15 ranked Aztecs held a 19-point lead at halftime and went on to beat the Gauchos 94-72. It was the first time the Aztecs had scored over 90 points in the month of February. Pima held a 54-35 lead at halftime and outscored Glendale 40-37 in the second half.
Sophomore Traivar Jackson added to his Pima career point total as he scored a team-high 29 points on 13 for 18 shooting. He completed his double-double with 12 rebounds and also added six assists, five steals and two blocks.
Freshman Jaylen Alexander went 6 for 7 from the field and had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman Mike Pope hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Freshman Jamison Kay (Gila Ridge HS) contributed with 12 points and six rebounds off the bench. He went 6 for 8 from the field.
The Aztecs swept the head-to-head meetings with the Gauchos. They won the first game 99-96 on January 14 at the West Campus Aztec Gym.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 5:30 p.m.
