(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College women’s basketball player Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS) dominated the glass in her starts and helped the Aztecs pick up two wins at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
Acosta, a freshman forward, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-28.
Acosta had a run of five straight games with double digit rebounds and it continued as she averaged 13.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block in Pima’s wins over Phoenix College and Yavapai College.
She has played in all 22 games so far this season; making six starts. She is averaging 9.0 points, 8.5 rebounds. Her streak of double digit rebounds ended on Wednesday as she posted six points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals on Wednesday in Pima’s win at Scottsdale Community College.
The Aztecs hit the road on Saturday when they play at No. 23 ranked Cochise College (Division I). Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
