Sharpshooter Mike Pope earns ACCAC Division II Player of the Week

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College men’s basketball player Mike Pope (Torrey Pines HS, CA) returned to the lineup last week and made a big impact.

Pope, a freshman guard, was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-28.

He averaged 21.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds as the Aztecs picked up wins over Phoenix College and Yavapai College at the West Campus Aztec Gym. He went 14 for 21 (.667) from the field and was 11 for 16 (.688) from three-point range.

Pope has played and started in 16 games averaging 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He is shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from beyond the arc.

The Aztecs hit the road on Saturday when they play at No. 16 ranked Cochise College. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
