(Paradise Valley, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the Puma Indoor Invitational hosted by Paradise Valley Community College this afternoon in Paradise Valley, Ariz. The Bucs put forth a solid effort competing mainly against other track and field club teams, experienced unattached performers and the host Paradise Valley Community College.
Dylan Hukill continued his strong indoor season winning his 60-meter dash heat and posting the second fastest time in the prelims. He lived up to that billing finishing second in the 60m final with a time of 7.18. Hukill also performed well in the 200 meter run, finishing third. Bridger Mageath had the third fastest time in the prelims and finished sixth in the finals.
Newcomer Nicolas Fay finished third in the shot put. Fay is the first athlete to participate in the shot put at Park Gilbert.
Manuel Najera (1:25.80) and Trevor Snedeker (1:26.80) finished 1-2 in the 600 meters with only a second separating the two runners.
On the ladies side Jordyn Espinoza won her heat in the 60-meters and posted the third fastest prelim time. A poor start from the blocks stunted her finals performance where she finished fourth. Nardia Padilla ran a solid 200-meter race finishing fourth and 400-meter finishing third.
In the field events Padilla (4.82m) and Johanna Jessop (4.76m) finished second and third respectively in the long jump.
The Buccaneers will continue its indoor season next Saturday back at Paradise Valley for another Puma Invitational starting at 10 a.m.
