Aztecs Men’s Soccer rallies twice but fall in overtime at Arizona Western College

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (9-2-2, 6-2-2 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Tuesday at Arizona Western College (13-2, 9-1).

The No. 4 ranked Aztecs (Division II) were forced to rally twice but fell in overtime to the No. 11 ranked Matadors (Division I) 3-2.

The Matadors got the golden goal from Shoki Yoshida in the 95th minute.

Down 1-0, the Aztecs tied the game after sophomore Jacob Garcia (Walden Grove HS) scored in the 10th minute with an assist from sophomore Nicholas Bianchi (Pinnacle HS).

The Matadors retook the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from Nick Kinina but the Aztecs tied it up at 2-2 after Bianchi netted a goal in the 19th minute with an assist from sophomore Brian Vu (Rincon HS).

The Aztecs finished with three shots on goal for the game. Freshman Cristian Sattin finished with two saves.

The Aztecs await their final seeding as Mesa Community College plays one more regular season game on Thursday against GateWay Community College. If they win, the Aztecs will be the No. 3 seed and travel to No. 2 Mesa next Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the NJCAA Region I, Division II semifinal round.
