Zastrow and Estrella throw complete-game gems as Aztecs baseball sweeps Cochise College

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College baseball team (35-9, 26-7 in ACCAC) earned its 11thACCAC conference sweep of the season on Saturday as it took two from Cochise College (24-18, 17-15).

Pitchers Bradon Zastrow and Noah Estrella (Flowing Wells HS) threw complete-games combining to give up one earned run on seven hits with 11 strikeouts.

Zastrow and Estrella each threw 93 pitches in their outings. Sophomore Angel Ochoa (Canyon del Oro HS) finished the day 3 for 6 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 3, Cochise College Apaches 1

Zastrow threw his fourth complete-game of the season as he gave up one run (one earned) on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks on 93 pitches.

The Apaches tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the 6th but the Aztecs countered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Freshman Jose Enriquez hit a leadoff single and Ochoa hit an RBI double to score pinch runner Andre Greene (Rio Rico HS) to give Pima a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Terrell Huggins (Cienega HS) came through with two outs as he hit an RBI double to score Ochoa.

Ochoa hit an RBI single to drive in Enriquez in the 4th inning and finished the game 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Huggins went 2 for 3 with an RBI while Enriquez was 2 for 3 with a run.

Sophomore Bailey Seeger and freshman Daniel Durazo (Salpointe Catholic HS) each went 1 for 2.

Game 2: Pima CC Aztecs 10, Cochise College Apaches 0 (7 innings)

Estrella improved to 5-1 on the season as he threw his first complete-game shutout of the season giving up four hits with five strikeouts and no walks on 93 pitches.

Huggins got things going on offense in the 2nd inning when he hit a 2-run blast to score freshman Zavien Watson.

The Aztecs scored another five runs in the 5th inning. Freshman Alex Kelch (Tucson Magnet HS) hit an RBI single to score freshman Romeo Ballesteros (Salpointe Catholic HS). Enriquez, Ochoa and freshman Saul Escarrega (Sahuarita HS) drew bases loaded walks.

In the 6th inning, Durazo, Ochoa and sophomore JJ Rollon (Skyline HS) had RBI hits to help seal it.

Huggins finished the game 1 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored while Ochoa went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Kelch was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs and Rollon went 1 for 1 with two RBIs. Durazo finish 1 for 4 with an rBI and a run.
