Cordova takes third place as Aztecs men’s golf matches best team placement at Paradise Valley Invitational

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out the regular season on Tuesday at the Paradise Valley CC Invitational.

The Aztecs matched their best finish of the season as they took third place with a two-day total of 589 (295-294) at the Gainey Ranch Golf Course in Scottsdale. Pima finished seven-strokes behind Mesa Community College for second place (581-290-291). South Mountain Community College took first place with a 566 (280-286).

Sophomore Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) played his best two rounds of the season as he took third place in the individual standings. He shot a 1-under par 71 on Monday and followed it up with a 2-under par 70 for a total of 141. He finished one-stroke behind for second place and four-strokes behind the leader.

Freshman Diego Cueva-Schraidt (Sabino HS) produced his best two-round total of the season as he finished tied for fourth place. He shot a 142 with 1-under par 71 in both rounds.

Sophomore Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) shot a 152 (76-76) and was tied for 20th in the final individual standings. Freshman Trevor Gregoire (Canyon del Oro HS) had a 154 (77-77) and was tied for 25th.

The Aztecs will compete in the Region I Championship from Apr. 26-29 at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort in Gold Canyon, AZ.
