Aztecs men’s golf drop to seventh place to close out the South Mountain Invitational

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s golf team competed in its fifth tournament of the regular season on Monday and Tuesday at the South Mountain Invitational in Phoenix.

The Aztecs finished in seventh place in the final team standings with a two-day total of 599 (297-302). Pima was six-strokes back from Chandler-Gilbert Community College for fourth place.

Sophomore Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as he tied for 14thplace in the individual standings. He shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday and finished with a 146 (75-71).

Sophomore Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) shot a two-over par 73 in Tuesday’s round and tied for 17th place with a 147 (74-73).

Sophomore Bobby Padilla (Catalina Foothills HS) finished with a two-day score of 152 (74-78) while freshman Diego Cueva-Schraidt (Sabino HS) shot a 154 (74-80).

The Aztecs will play in their final tournament of the regular season on Apr. 16-17 at the Paradise Valley Invitational. It will be at the Gainey Ranch Golf Course in Scottsdale.
