Aztecs men’s golf struggles at Estrella Mountain Invitational

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out its second tournament of the season at the Estrella Mountain Invitational on Wednesday in Litchfield Park, AZ.

The Aztecs struggled as they finished in last place in the final team standings out of eight teams at the Wigwam Golf Course. They had a team score of 638 (318-320).

Sophomore Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) had the best overall score for the Aztecs as he tied for 24th place in the individual standings. He shot a three-over par 75 in the first round and finished with a 155 (75-80).
Freshman Sean Moreno (Marana HS) finished tied for 33rd place with a 160 (78-82) while sophomore Bobby Padilla (Catalina Foothills HS) improved in his second round with a 162 (83-79). Freshmen Trevor Gregoire (Canyon del Oro HS) and Diego Cueva-Schraidt (Sabino HS) each shot a 163. Gregoire finished an 82 and an 81 in his rounds and Cueva-Schraidt shot an 83 and an 80.

The Aztecs will compete in the Scottsdale Invitational on Mar. 5-6 at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City, AZ. Teams will tee off at 11:00 a.m.
