(Phoenix, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (13-4, 2-4 in ACCAC) struggled to manufacture runs on Tuesday as it dropped two games at Phoenix College (7-10, 4-4).
The Aztecs left 17 runners on base. Sophomore Angel Ochoa (Canyon del Oro HS) went 3 for 7 on the day with an RBI and a run scored. Sophomore Jimmy Gamboa (1-2) and freshman Jaren Jackson (2-1) took the losses on the mound.
Phoenix College Bears 1, (11) Pima CC Aztecs 0: The Aztecs left nine runners on base and the Bears scored their run in the 6th inning.
The Aztecs had five hits for the game. Freshman Andres Mendoza (Desert View HS) and sophomore JJ Rollon (Skyline HS) each went 1 for 2 while sophomore Daniel Durazo (Salpointe Catholic HS), freshman Jose Enriquez and Ochoa each went 1 for 3.
Gamboa had a strong outing as he pitched six innings giving up one run (none earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk on 97 pitches.

Phoenix College Bears 7, (11) Pima CC Aztecs 4: The Bears scored seven runs in the 2ndinning and the Aztecs rally was cut short.
The Aztecs got on the board in the 4th inning when freshman Ajay Ram (Ironwood Ridge HS) hit an RBI double with two outs to drive in freshman Alex Kelch (Tucson), who led off the inning with a walk.
Pima tacked on two runs in the 7th as Ochoa hit an RBI double scoring Durazo. Ochoa later scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-3.
Kelch hit an RBI single with two outs in the 9th inning to score Adalberto “Max” Leon (Sahuarita HS).
Kelch finished 2 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Ochoa was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run while Ram was 1 for 4 with an RBI.
Jackson pitched one and one-third innings giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits with four walks.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field on Saturday when they host Eastern Arizona College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First pitch is at noon.
