(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College baseball players Phillip Sikes and Austin Bryan (Sahuarita HS) came up big for the Aztecs this weekend at El Paso Community College and were rewarded for their efforts.
Sikes, a sophomore outfielder and pitcher, was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week. He went 4 for 14 scoring five runs with two RBIs, a stolen base, a double and a home run in four games at El Paso Community College. He also pitched two innings with five strikeouts as he collected two saves. Sikes is batting .333 in eight games with onehomer, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Bryan, a sophomore pitcher, was selected ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week after he threw six shutout innings giving up four hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks in Pima’s 2-0 win on Saturday. Bryan is 2-0 on the season with a 0.82 ERA. He has thrown 11 innings with 19 strikeouts in two starts.
The Aztecs hit the road as they play four games in Henderson, NV. They’ll face off with the College of Southern Nevada on Friday in a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. Then they play the College of Southern Idaho on Saturday in a doubleheader. First pitch is at 11:00 a.m.
