(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (2-1, 1-1 in ACCAC) played its first home match of the 2026 season at the West Campus Aztec Field, facing off against No. 1 ranked Phoenix College (3-0, 2-0).
· The No. 5 ranked Aztecs fell to the Bears 1-0 suffering their first loss at Aztec Field since October 25, 2023, when they fell to Glendale Community College in the Region I, Division II Semifinals. They had won 19 straight games coming into Tuesday’s contest.
The Bears broke the scoreless tie when freshman Angel Villalba scored with five minutes left.
The Bears outshot the Aztecs 9-3 in on-goal attempts. Sophomore Tommaso Leonardi finished the game with eight saves.
The Aztecs have lost three straight to the Bears going back to their 4-2 loss in the Region I, Division II Finals and 1-0 in the NJCAA Division II National Semifinals last season.
The Aztecs will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
