(Tempe, AZ) Sun Devil Track and Field junior sprinter Jayden Davis was named Big 12 men’s outdoor track and field athlete of the week as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon, following a record-breaking performance at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California over the weekend.
Davis, a Mountain Pointe High School product, put the world on notice after setting the current world lead in the men’s 400 meter dash with a blazing time of 44.29, which also stands as new program record.
Davis took down Ron Freeman II’s 58-year-old record of 44.49, the longest-standing record in program history, set in the 1968 outdoor season.
Davis now owns both the indoor and outdoor men’s 400m program records and also holds the Arizona high school state record in the event during his time at Mountain Pointe.
