(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (3-4, 0-2 in ACCAC) struggled in the second and fourth quarters on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 14 ranked Aztecs fell to Eastern Arizona College (5-3, 2-0) 85-74.
After the Aztecs led 24-16 after the first quarter, the Gila Monsters went on a 23-5 run to take a double digit lead at 39-28. Pima trailed 44-37 at halftime.
The Aztecs started the third quarter on an 8-2 run and took a 65-64 lead after the thirdquarter. The Gila Monsters took the lead back with a 15-7 run to open the fourth and the Aztecs could not recover in the end.
Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) led all scorers with 27 points on 10 for 18 shooting. Fellow sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Freshmen Tyra Do and Bryanne Olson (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) each contributed with eight points.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Sunday when they play at Arizona Western College at 2:00 p.m.
