(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (5-0) opened a three-game series against Yavapai College (0-1) on Friday at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.
The No. 21 ranked Aztecs took control with six runs in the first two innings and won 12-2 in seven innings.

Freshman Juan Hernandez (Tucson Magnet HS) drove in sophomore Jackson Glueck and freshman Damian Lorta (Desert view HS) with his two-run RBI single to left field. Glueck and Lorta reached base with two outs.
The Aztecs scored four runs in the 2nd inning. They loaded the bases with no outs and sophomore Matt MacDonald came through on a two-run RBI double to left field bringing in sophomores Max Leyva (Tucson Magnet HS) and Ramon Martinez. Glueck hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to score sophomore Leon Cereceres and Lorta capped off the inning with his RBI single to plate MacDonald. Pima led 6-0.
Glueck helped Pima’s cause with an RBI single in the 6th and walked it off with an RBI double in the 7thinning as he finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Lorta had another RBI single in the 6th inning as he went a perfect 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. MacDonald scored the final run in the game in the 7thinning as he was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. Hernandez closed it out going 1 for 4 with two RBIs and Cereceres went 1 for 2 with an RBI and two runs.
Freshman Hayden Green (Sabino HS) got the win as he pitched three innings, giving up two hits with five strikeouts and one walk on 51 pitches.

The Aztecs and the Roughriders will close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at Aztec Field. The first game will start at 11:00 a.m.
