(Hermosillo, Sonora) The final series of the regular season
began today between the Hermosillo Naranjeros and the Tucson Baseball Team. The Naranjeros emerged victorious, defeating the Arizona team 5-1.
Singles by Willie Calhoun and TT Bowens drove in the first two runs for the Sonora squad in
the very first inning.
Tucson responded in the fourth inning, with Agustín Ruiz scoring on an RBI double by Gaige
Howard, which was Tucson’s only run of the game.
The Naranjeros added two more runs in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, Victor Mascai drew a walk courtesy of Edwin Valle, allowing Harold Ramírez to score. On a force out against Agustín Murillo, Willie Calhoun scored to make it 4-1.
Hermosillo wasn’t satisfied and crossed home plate again in the bottom of the seventh inning
when Jason Atondo scored on a double by Harold Ramírez for the final score of 5-1.
Tonight’s winning pitcher was Paul Campbell, who pitched 5 complete innings, striking out 5 and walking 2, while the losing pitcher was Austin Warner, who went 5.1 innings on the mound, striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs.
