Five Aztecs score in double figures as Women’s Basketball uses first half runs to beat Yavapai College

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (4-2) played its 2025-26 home opener on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 7 ranked Aztecs defeated Yavapai College 109-40 in their second meeting with the Roughriders this season. The Aztecs won 99-55 on Nov. 4 in Prescott.

Pima led 9-6 and went on a 22-0 run in the first quarter. The Aztecs led 31-8 entering the second quarter.

Up 36-11, the Aztecs used a 16-0 run to build more of a cushion to make it 52-11. They outscored the Roughriders 25-4 for the quarter and led 56-12 at halftime.

The Aztecs outscored the Roughriders by double digits in the third and fourth quarters.

Pima had five players score in double figures as freshman Lucy Fisher (Mesquite HS) led the way with a team-high 16 points and provided a double-double with 12 rebounds. She went 8 for 14 from the field.

Sophomore Ahdiayh Chee (Dobson HS) went 5 for 9 from the field and 4 for 7 from three-point range as she posted 14 points to go with two rebounds and two assists.

Freshman Nevaeh Urenda (Flowing Wells HS) had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists while sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller (Dream City HS) finished with 12 points on 6 for 8 shooting.

Freshman Reigne Waugh contributed with 12 points and five rebounds and freshman Jolee Nelson (Salpointe Catholic HS) secured a team-high 14 rebounds (10 offensive) to go with five points and three steals.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Friday when they host Cuyamaca College on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
