Aztecs Men’s Basketball drops 170 points in win over Park University JV

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (4-0) scored its highest point total so far this season on Wednesday as it hosted Park University JV at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 3 ranked Aztecs won by 123 points after beating the Buccaneers 170-47.

The Aztecs started off the game on a 27-2 run and scored 96 points in the first half. The Aztecs had a stretch of outscoring Park JV 45-2 in the second half.

Sophomore Mason Hunt (Bradshaw Mountain HS) scored a team-high 26 points after he went 11 for 14 from the field and 4 for 5 from three-point range. He added five rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.

Sophomore Ky Green closed out the game with 24 points on 12 for 14 shooting with nine rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Isaac Johnson added 23 points as he was 11 for 14 from the field with nine rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Sophomore Brock Mendoza was a flawless 10 for 10 from the field as he finished with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Taevean Famutimi-Brown posted 17 points on 8 for 10 shooting while freshmen Rowan McKenzie (Boulder Creek HS) and Isaiah Hill (Premier Prep) each had 13 points. Hill also posted six rebounds, six assists and eight steals.

Freshman Drew Hall (Red Mountain HS) contributed with 12 points on 5 for 5 shooting and freshman Gerron Graham (Premier Prep) had a double-double of 10 points and 16 assists.

The Aztecs shot 78 for 102 (76.5 percent) and had 57 assists and 33 steals.

The Aztecs continue their non-conference schedule when they host Benedictine University Mesa JV on Friday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
