(Coolidge, AZ) The Pima Community College volleyball team (7-11) stepped away from ACCAC conference play for the final time during the regular season as it faced off against Central Arizona College (14-7) on Wednesday in Coolidge.
The Aztecs tied the match on two occasions and forced a tiebreaker but fell in the end 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-12.
Sophomores Maggie McReynolds (Mountain View HS) and Julia Baird each led the way with 12 kills apiece. McReynolds produced a double-double by adding 15 digs. Baird was a force at the net as she finished with seven blocks.
Freshman Alexia Hutchens (Salpointe Catholic HS) also posted in double figures with 11 kills to go along with three blocks and three aces.
Freshman Breeze Schelter finished the match with 22 assists while fellow freshman Alex Jacome (Canyon del Oro HS) closed it out with 18 assists and four aces.
Sophomore Kendall Snyder (Canyon del Oro HS) contributed with eight kills and five blocks.
The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Friday when they host No. 9 ranked Mesa Community College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
