(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (10-1, 7-1 in ACCAC) secured its 27th straight season with a double digit win total but it was done in dramatic fashion on Saturday against rival Phoenix College.

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs upset the No. 1 ranked Bears 3-2 after sophomore Nathan Flores (Alhambra HS) scored the game-winning goal with 21.9 seconds left with an assist from sophomore Alejandro Mina.

The Aztecs have won eight straight games and avenged their 3-0 loss to the Bears back on Sept. 6.

The Aztecs got on the board when sophomore Robert Castaneda (Nogales HS) converted on a penalty kick in the 26th minute for his seventh goal of the season.

The Aztecs went up 2-0 when freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored in the 31st minute. He leads the ACCAC conference with 14 goals.

The Bears cut Pima’s lead to 2-1 when Alan Garibaldy scored in the 69th minute and tied the game after Cruzeiro Cruz scored in the 82nd minute.

The Aztecs and the Bears each finished with seven shots on goal. Freshman Tommaso Leonardi closed out the game with five saves.

The Aztecs are back at the West Campus Aztec Field on Tuesday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Game time at 8:00 p.m.

Pima goals: Robert Castaneda (penalty kick) 26th minute; Leonel Gutierrez 31st minute; Nathan Flores (Alejandro Mina) 89th minute.
