(Stanford, CA) In a back-and-forth meet that went down to the wire, No. 20 Sun Devil Gymnastics came out on top over Stanford by a slim 196.975 to 196.875 margin in Maples Pavilion on Friday night, with the beam lineup coming in clutch in the final rotation.
Notable Stats
- Arizona State (4-4, 1-2 Pac-12) got its first conference win of the year in dramatic fashion. ASU and Stanford (1-6, 1-2 Pac-12) traded leads after each rotation, with the beam rotation coming through for the Sun Devils in the fourth rotation.
- The Gym Devils earned a new season-high road score with a 196.975. That is good for the 10th-highest road team score in program history. This was the third meet in a row earning a 49-plus on each event. Additionally, the vault rotation extended its program-long streak of meets with 49-plus, now at 16.
- Senior Sarah Clark had a huge meet for ASU. She scored a 9.950 on bars to win the event title. That score was the highest by any Sun Devil on that event this season. Additionally, she led the team on beam with a season-high 9.925, which won her another event title. That score is tied for the highest by any Gym Devil this season on beam, a mark that has been achieved four times now.
- Another event title was won by senior Anaya Smith on vault, her fourth this year on that apparatus. She scored a 9.925 to lead all gymnasts, her fourth score of 9.9 or better this season.
- Earning her second all-around title, senior Jada Mangahas notched a new career high with 39.450. She had a 9.875 on vault, bars and beam, adding a 9.825 on floor as well.
- Graduate Hannah Scharf made her return to the all-around for the first time this year, making her season debut on bars and earning a 9.875. In the all-around, she had a 39.325. Additionally, she won the floor title with a 9.900, her third floor win of the year. She also had a season-high 9.900 on beam.
- Senior Emily White had a solid night. She earned a new season high on bars with a 9.875, adding another 9.875 on floor. On beam in the anchor spot with the pressure on, she hit and scored a 9.825.

Rotation One: Bars, 49.375
The Gym Devils started out strong with a season-high bars score of 49.375 to take the early advantage over the Cardinal, highlighted by a meet-high 9.950 from Clark in the anchor spot. All six in the lineup scored at least a 9.800, including three 9.875s in a row from Scharf (in her debut), Mangahas and White.
Rotation Two: Vault, 49.025

Mangahas started off the rotation strong with a stuck landing for a 9.875. Halle Gregoireadded a solid 9.825 after that. However, the scores went down for the next three until Anaya Smith’s 9.925 in the anchor role. Following this rotation, Stanford took the lead.
Rotation Three: Floor, 49.325

rotation. The scoring was highlighted by Scharf’s 9.900 to wrap up the lineup and a 9.875 from White, who has not scored below a 9.825 in five meets. Gregoire matched her career high with a 9.850, and Mangahas chipped in a 9.825.
Rotation Four: Beam, 49.250
Despite a fall in the lead-off spot, the Gym Devils came through on beam to take the team win. The last five all scored at least a 9.800, with two scores of 9.9 or better: Clark’s 9.925 and Scharf’s 9.900, season highs for both of them. Mangahas scored a 9.875, White had a 9.825 and Gracie Reeves had a 9.800.
