(Thatcher, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (11-2, 8-2 in ACCAC) bounced back in its final regular season road test of the season on Saturday at Eastern Arizona College (5-7-2, 4-5-1).
The No. 2 ranked Aztecs (Division II) blanked the Gila Monsters (Division I) 3-0 in Thatcher. It was Pima’s eighth shutout victory of the season.
The Aztecs did their damage early as they scored all three goals in the opening half.
Sophomore Daniel Ehler (Marana HS) put the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 2ndminute with an assist from Missael Montilla (Tucson Magnet HS).
Freshman Jose Luis Martin Montealegre added to the lead with two goals in the 25th and 44th minutes.
The Aztecs defense held the Gila Monsters to one shot on goal for the game. Sophomore James Lynch (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished with one save.
The Aztecs close out the regular season on Tuesday when they host South Mountain Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
