Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (16-4, 10-3 in ACCAC) took control from the get-go on Saturday at the West Campus.
The No. 3 ranked Aztecs defeated Chandler-Gilbert Community College (0-20, 0-13) 98-43. The Aztecs have won five of their last six games.
The Aztecs started the game on a 15-2 run and led 24-6 after the first quarter. They took a 51-22 advantage at halftime and went on to outscore the Coyotes 26-9 for the third quarter.
Sophomore Bree Cates scored 16 of her 22 points in the first half. She went 9 for 13 shooting including 3 for 5 from the three-point line.
Sophomore Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) finished the game with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Freshman Christine Ortega (Flowing Wells HS) contributed with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench. She went 4 for 5 from the field.
The Aztecs swept the regular season head-to-head meetings with the Coyotes. Pima won 104-34 in Chandler back in November.
The Aztecs will be back on the road on Wednesday when they play at Glendale Community College at 5:30 p.m.
