(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College baseball pitcher Wilson Bannister was a big part of the team’s sweep last Tuesday against Phoenix College and got rewarded for his efforts.
Bannister, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Centennial high School in Las Cruces, NM, was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week on Monday for the week of March 8-14.
Bannister threw a complete-game shutout in Pima’s 7-0 win over the Bears in the first game. He pitched seven innings giving up five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
He has thrown 21.2 innings in four starts so far this season with a 2-1 record and a 4.98 ERA with 22 strikeouts.
The Aztecs are back at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field on Tuesday when they host No. 2 Central Arizona College in an ACCAC doubleheader. First pitch is at noon.
