Bucs Defeat Beavers in Four Sets

(Pasadena, CA)  The Park University Gilbert volleyball team (4-3, 1-1) defeated the Caltech Beavers (1-1, 0-0) by a score of 3-1, on the road Wednesday evening in AT Braun Athletic Center in Pasadena, Calif.

The Buccaneers earned their third straight win, defeating the Beavers in three out of four sets (25-13, 23-25, 25-14, 25-23).

Park-Gilbert set the tone early, taking the first set by 12 points. The Bucs recorded 18 kills while hitting .469 as a team. Caltech responded in the second set, overcoming a five-point deficit,

The Buccaneers regained control in the third set, limiting the Beavers to a -.121 attack percentage while earning a 25-14 victory. Park then held off a late Caltech push in the fourth set, closing out the match 25-23.

The Bucs were led offensively by Alyssa Winfield and Kyla Knight, who each recorded a season-high 13 kills. Winfield added a season-high 18 digs and finished with a team-best .440 attack percentage, while Knight hit .314 on 35 total attacks.

Adrianna DeMario recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 36 assists and 12 digs. Porsche Bauer led the defensive effort tying her season-high in digs with 24. Keep Williams logged 10 kills, six digs, and had a team-high four blocks along with Molly Aikens and Lainey Calvary.

As a team, Park-Gilbert finished with a .227 attack percentage and held Caltech to .031. The Buccaneers also recorded 56 kills, 52 assists, and 83 digs in Wednesday’s victory.

The Buccaneers resume Great Southwest Athletic Conference play as they return to the court Friday evening at 6 p.m. MST. They will face off against the Hope International University Royals (1-7, 1-1) at the Darling Pavillion in Fullerton, Calif.
